When business travelers stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton®, they can bring their entire office with them. Well, they may have to leave the coffee pot and the hanging plants behind, but they won’t miss a beat with their Internet connection.

Since the hotel opened in February, it has offered in every room complimentary high speed Internet service that is almost 100 times faster than the average modem connection, according to General Manager Ross Wagers. “The high speed Internet access that the hotel provides is run through a T-1, through a 10meg server,” Wagers said. “It is a direct connection through an Ethernet card. There is no configuration to a laptop. It runs both IBM and Macintosh compatible.

“There are other hotels in the area that provide it now, but most other hotels in the areas charge for the service, whereas ours is complimentary.

“It allows business travelers to send, receive and download documents at the speed they’re used to within their local company network. It allows them to connect quicker to their company network and just do business at the pace business is going versus what you used to do-dial up on a 56K modem at best and hope you get a good, solid connection.’”
