On April 2, 2003 the Hampton Inn®
- Downtown
Columbia was awarded the South Carolina Employment Security Commission Job
Creator Award. "We were nominated by the South Carolina Parks, Recreation
and Tourism Agency, some of the other recipients of the award included
Spartanburg BMW, Home Depot-Seneca, Lowe's Bluffton, Sara Lee-Orangeburg,
and Milliken & Company-Johnston , just to name a few. The award was
presented by Lt. Governor Andre Bauer followed by a nice banquet /
reception. I was fortunate enough to be seated at the same table as the 3
current commissioners. It great for our hotel to be recognized for bringing
jobs into the State of South Carolina. The awarded is presently sitting in
the Hampton Inn Downtown Columbia's Lobby trophy case.", said Mr. Tony Tam,
