June 11, 2012—Gainesville’s premier hotel, Hampton Inn & Suites Gainesville Downtown, is
gearing up to welcome friends and families of this year’s incoming freshmen to the University of Florida. Each summer the University of Florida (UF) conducts “Preview” sessions for incoming
freshmen and their families.
According to the UF Dean of Students website, Preview (a.k.a. Orientation) provides students
the opportunity to make a smooth transition to UF and become acclimated with the university.
Preview is designed to help students transition to college and assist family members in
understanding their students' experience during this exciting time. Entering a new academic
community is an important transition in a person's life and UF wants to help make it as
successful as possible.
Part of welcoming new students and families to UF is introducing them to everything Gainesville
has to offer and the best place to start is Downtown at the Hampton Inn & Suites. Nestled in the historic district and surrounded by a plethora of restaurants, shoppes, and galleries, Hampton is the ideal location for families to stay and submerge themselves in Gator Country. Just one mile from campus, Hampton welcomes weekday guests with a Manager’s Reception and invites hotel guests to enjoy discounts at downtown eateries or simply stroll along the brick built streets of downtown. The downtown plaza adjacent from the hotel hosts the Free Fridays Concert Series through the summer and on Wednesday the plaza fills with vendors bringing homegrown goodness to the Farmer’s Market.
